Legal aid

NOAS offers free legal aid in asylum cases after rejection, and cases of family immigration, permanent residence permit and citizenship.

NOAS offers free legal aid in:

  • Asylum cases: All asylum seekers who have had their claims rejected by The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) or the Immigration Appeals Board (UNE), can have NOAS consider their asylum cases. We review all the cases we receive.
  • Family immigration cases: NOAS will only provide counselling and legal aid in cases where the reference person is a resettlement refugee or has applied for asylum in Norway and on the basis of application for asylum has been granted residence permit in Norway, or where the applicant is an asylum seeker in Norway or a refugee outside his/her home country.
  • Permanent residence permit: NOAS will only provide counselling and legal aid to those who are a resettlement refugee or have applied for asylum in Norway and on the basis of application for asylum have been granted residence permit in Norway.
  • Citizenship: NOAS will only provide counselling and legal aid to those who are a resettlement refugee or have applied for asylum in Norway and on the basis of application for asylum have been granted residence permit in Norway.
