Information about the asylum procedure

NOAS’ information and guidance programme offers information and advice to newly-arrived asylum seekers in Norway.

The information programme is a separate division of NOAS, their offices are located at the reception center in Råde and reception transitory center for unaccompanied minors at Mysebu in Østfold.

We offer information about the process of seeking asylum, criteria for protection and about the rights and obligations of asylum seekers in Norway. The advisors in the information programme offer advice on what to expect and how to prepare for the asylum interview with the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI)

It is especially important that you understand the significance of the asylum interview when you apply for asylum in Norway. The asylum interview is normally your only chance to meet with the authorities who will decide whether you are offered protection and leave to remain in Norway or not. During the interview, you must explain yourself truthfully, and offer a concrete and detailed account of your reason for seeking protection in Norway.
